Tlaoquiaht Tribal Parks provides several services in the Region, including managing the Wanachus-Hiilthuu'is (Meares island) Tribal Park area that safe guards the Drinking Water for Tofino. The Tribal Park Guardians are active in back road cleanups, beach cleanups, and trail building (Big Tree Trail boardwalk). Guardians are professionally trained to be in the back country and river systems. The program collaborates with many partners in the Region to achieve restoration goals, and to reduce negative impacts to the areas watersheds. Each year, Junior Guardians are provided exposure to the Guardian program, and to participate in ambassador work.
